Treejer
What is it?
It is an open protocol that connects funders with rural planters around the world. The project is experimenting with cutting-edge concepts like decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFT), and smart contracts to unlock new opportunities in climate finance and rural development.
Why was it developed?
Treejer was developed to address two main problems: the low transparency in the financing of conservation projects, as well as the focus on the number of new trees planted without considering the correct places of planting and the care so that the planted trees can survive over time. The latter is a concern for governments and organizations that have observed a low number of trees surviving in restoration projects.
Why are we sharing it?
As an open protocol and based on frontier crypto technologies such as DeFi, NFTs and smart contracts, Treejer is a powerful and friendly tool to solve the problem of transparency in governments and organizations that finance conservation projects, also helping to facilitate the monitoring and care of the planted trees.
