Inclusive Recycling Evaluation Model
This digital tool was created for the Regional Initiative for Inclusive Recycling (IRR). The IRR is a program created with the objective of promoting the integration of informal recyclers in Latin America and the Caribbean to the formal recycling market. This program was launched in 2011 by the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) and the Water and Sanitation Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Coca-Cola Latin America, Fundación Avina, the Latin American Network of Recyclers (Red-LACRE ) and PepsiCo Latinoamericana. has achieved excellent visibility in the waste collection sector to support activities and projects in many Latin American countries.

Under this initiative, the working group of the Regional Initiative for Inclusive Recycling (IRR), has done a study and a comparative analysis that evaluates the inclusive recycling sector in 12 cities in Latin America and the Caribbean. The evaluation criterion consisted in analyzing and measuring qualitative and quantitative indicators through three main dimensions, including regulations, organization and market dynamics. This system helps sector actors to understand, measure and evaluate the institutional and operational environment of informal recycling in Latin America and the Caribbean.
