OpenG2P
What is this?
OpenG2P is an open source platform that enables governments and humanitarian organizations to deliver critical benefits directly to those in need through large-scale cash transfers.
Why was it developed?
This platform was born out of the needs of government and humanitarian organizations for population support systems that developed in the 1970's with the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, Africa.
The platform offers people-oriented processes such as enrollment in schemes, identity verification and cash transfers to their bank accounts. It also incorporates functions for government departments, such as the creation of beneficiary registers and lists, eligibility checks, scheme definition, payment disbursement and reconciliation, thereby significantly reducing social exclusion.
Why are we sharing it?
OpenG2P helps advance a number of SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) by ensuring that low-income people receive their cash transfers digitally for livelihoods, education, for women, among others; in a way that supports their access and use at affordable prices, and thus creating avenues for them to save and access a wide range of financial services. OpenG2P leverages the entire ecosystem by default and therefore enables easy integration with identity and fintechs, while maintaining privacy and user consent as key principles by design.
