MHero
What is this?
MHero is an SMS communication platform that enables the connection between ministries of health and health workers.
It brings together data from different communication technologies and enables the exchange of information between them, facilitating the connection of health workers and their support systems.
It works on any device that supports text messaging, as it does not require smart devices to operate, it can be used in vulnerable locations and with poor connectivity.
With mHero, health professionals can communicate, collect information and provide support.
Why was it developed?
MHero was born in response to the 2014 Ebola outbreak where more than 2000 cases were detected in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone. Faced with this scenario, it was necessary to implement a real-time information network that would help health workers and also allow communication with the ministries of health.
IntraHealth International and UNICEF participated in its development.
Why are we sharing it?
It is a key tool for connecting health professionals in uncertain contexts. It solves emerging problems by maintaining information exchange on health issues, procedures, public policies, documentation, disease information and new cases.
